Four-day, plant-based pop-up dinner showcase in Boynton this weekend
BOYNTON BEACH — Chef Nina Kauder is not trying to change anyone’s eating habits. But hey, she says, everyone needs some type of vegetable in their diet, so why not make it fun?
She and her business partner Sivan Fraser are inviting the public to attend the Emerging Chefs Harvest Moon Showcase in Boynton Beach Thursday through Sunday. The event starts with a five-course dinner of all plant-based foods at the Secret Garden Cafe at 410 E. Boynton Beach Blvd.
Events including brunches, lunches, teas, dinners, and cooking and nutrition classes continue through Sunday. And they’re all aimed at omnivores, vegetarians, vegans and paleo eaters. She says there will be something for everyone.
“It’s about the culinary landscape and making it exciting, and focusing on what’s happening locally in our neighborhood,” Kauder said. “It’s a whole, like, lollapalooza.”
Kauder’s company, Bean Scene, was hired by the Secret Garden to create an event there. Last year, Kauder’s company held an indoor and outdoor vegan market.
The cafe is run by the nonprofit Community Caring Center of Greater Boynton Beach, and is a place for chefs to use the space for a certain number of hours each week to work on their craft. It serves as a small business incubator program. And, of course those chefs will be featured in the event.
She hopes it will be popular enough to be held quarterly.
“It’s a culinary showcase predominately of existing incubator clients that are at Secret Garden,” she said. “But it is also reaching out to non-incubator clients and showcasing some of them to show them what’s available in Boynton.”
